Betrayal, you’re no Obsession
But don’t worry, I still have a place in my heart for you. Just not nearly at the level of Obsession.
I have to admit, with nothing to go on except the title, I was feeling mighty nervous about this book. Betrayal? Who was betraying who? More importantly, was Noah betraying Paige?!?
Sadly, my suspicions were correct, as this book has Paige fleeing into the arms of Malcolm. The weird thing is, instead of being outraged like I thought I was going to be, I understood. Instead of taking the easy route and writing this love triangle in black and white, Siona took the time to write the relationships realistically. I was able to put myself in Paige’s position when I couldn’t before.
There was a ton of backstory in this book, and while I appreciate getting to know the full history of the story and of the minor characters, I missed the character development of the main characters.
All right, I just missed Noah and Paige making out. You happy?
Betrayal probably ranks in third for me, behind Obsession and Birth, and ahead of Love. That being said, I’m waiting on pins and needles for book five!!

Like an addict about to get her fix
We’ve been waiting for what seems like ages, but the day is finally here! After a year of slow torture (plus a lot of lively speculation and fabulous fan fiction), Betrayal is finally released tonight at midnight!
There have been a few copies that were mistakenly leaked out a day early, so I’ve been trying my hardest to pry myself from the other fans and blog sites in case some person decides it’s badass to post spoilers. As you can imagine, it’s been TOUGH, and I really couldn’t have done it without Luci. You’d think we’d just be enablers, but she’s been kicking my butt if I even think about going online (yeah, I don’t know how she does it either). HUGS!
Like last time, we will be in line for the midnight release, but we will be at a different one this time. Sadly, the Borders at Spring Creek is currently closed for mall renovation, but the good news is, we’ll be at the brand spankin’ new Barnes & Noble in Cedar Oaks. Thankfully, the weather has also been cooperating, as I’m still recovering from the lovely the heat wave we had last year.
Anyway, see you all there! I’ll be wearing a red hoodie and gold flats in case you want to say hi!

Confessions 5 - I HEART VAMPIRES EXCLUSIVE!

Well, that was… interesting.
Like good little fangirls, Luci and I dutifully lined up at our local theater for the midnight showing of Confessions. We waited in line patiently. We’d seen the photos, watched the trailers and video clips over and over again, and listened to the soundtrack. Once those house lights dimmed and the audience shrieked in excitement, I got myself ready for the movie of the year.
Boy, was I disappointed.
Don’t get me wrong, there were some awesome parts. First of all, Brandon Ford was GORGEOUS. He first walked onto the screen, and all of us squealed. At this point, it’s a reflex… you can’t control it.
The acting was good, and I thought the script was a fine adaptation. However, everything else looked really, really, REALLY cheap. The special effects in particular looked like something out of a made-for-TV movie. In fact, the girl sitting next to me started *laughing* during the scene where Noah first turns into a butterfly. It was supposed to be this serious moment, and the special effects turned it into something comedic.
I hate ragging on this film, but I do it out of love. I wanted this to be SO good and I was just SO disappointed.

Now THIS is what I’m talking about!
You know how I said that the first book would be a hard book to overcome in terms of sheer greatness? Well, ladies and gentlemen, that hurdle has just been cleared! Like I said in my title, THIS is a book that dreams are made of. There’s a reason why I couldn’t stop reading for nearly 24 hours; I literally couldn’t put it down!
My favorite parts:
- Noah threatening Haley when she off-handedly remarks that Paige would make a good vampire. When Noah lost control and threatened to kill Haley, that was HAWT! I had a weird reaction to this at first, though. My first reaction was thinking that Haley would put up a huge fight without lifting a finger… anyone else?
- I know we’re supposed to hate Haley, but there were times where I sort of felt sorry for her. Her jealousy over Paige makes her human, and while nothing should ever come between Noah and Paige, it would be nice to hear more Haley backstory and to see why she is the way she is. (cough)Next book(cough).
- BEST CHAPTER EVER. Noah arranging the map of the world in candles on Paige’s front lawn. You hear that? That’s the sound of every teenaged girl in the country squeeing over the sweetest thing ever to happen on paper. BEST CHAPTER EVER.
- The last three chapters of the book. While the above chapter was my favorite chapter, I don’t think I blinked during the last three. Noah’s quest to find Paige after she was kidnapped by Haley were some of the most exciting pieces of writing I’ve ever read. I could barely contain my frustration when I saw that I had reached the end of the book. Siona, you slay me.

Obsession makes me happy
Wow, I think I broke my own record. 23 hours and 12 minutes!
And now I’m going to bed, because I’m pretty sure it’s not normal to be seeing butterflies on the wall. They are pretty, though…

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Heh. I love the the title of book 3. “Obsession” is quite appropriate, isn’t it?
Like last time, Luci and I will be down at the Spring Creek Borders, waiting (im)patiently for the next saga in the best series evah! Don’t be shy, come on down and introduce yourself. We love meeting fellow fans! Watch out for my purple shorts. I would wear something a little less skimpy, but sue me, it’s a million degrees out here, and I’m pretty sure they’re going to make us wait outside like they did last time.

Corbin is a crazy fangirl over Brandon Ford
Yeah, it’s all over. Brandon = Noah. You will never hear anymore complaining from me, just lots and lots of squeeing! Eeeeeeee!
